Overview
Grants, loans, work-study and a team that answers the phone — the Office of Financial Aid helps you build a plan you can live with. Aid is available to students in a degree program enrolled at least half time. For professional and undergraduate programs, half time means at least six credit hours per trimester; our other graduate programs require at least five.
Call 877-408-6956 or email FinancialAid@logan.edu at any stage, including before you apply.
How To Apply
- 1Create your FSA ID. Your username and password sign you in to U.S. Department of Education systems and electronically sign federal documents. Each student needs their own, and you should never share it.
- 2File the FAFSA. Logan's federal school code is 004703. Professional, graduate and independent undergraduate students do not report parent information. Dependent undergraduates need a parent contributor with their own FSA ID.
- 3Complete your loan paperwork. Sign the Master Promissory Note and finish entrance counseling at studentaid.gov. Parents of dependent undergraduates apply separately for a Direct PLUS Loan.
Missouri residents should have a FAFSA on file by February 1, and no later than April 1, to be considered for most state aid.
Undergraduate Aid
- Federal grants — Pell and Supplemental Educational Opportunity grants, for students without an earned bachelor's degree
- Missouri state grants — awarded through the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development
- Direct Subsidized Loans — need-based; the Department of Education pays interest while you are enrolled at least half time and through the six-month grace period
- Direct Unsubsidized Loans — available regardless of need; you are responsible for the interest, which may be paid while in school or accrued and then added to the principal balance
- Direct PLUS Loans — credit-based loans for parents of dependent undergraduates
- Private loans — credit-based, non-federal, from any lender you choose; compare options in FastChoice
- Veteran benefits — see Veterans
- Scholarships — see Scholarship Opportunities
Federal grants and loans usually carry better terms than private loans, so exhaust federal options first. See how a year's costs and aid add up in the 2025–2026 Estimated Undergraduate College Financing Plan (PDF).
Graduate Aid
- Direct Unsubsidized Loans — available regardless of financial need; interest may be paid while in school or accrued and then added to the principal balance
- Federal Work-Study — part-time campus jobs for students with financial need
- Out-of-state grants — Doctor of Chiropractic students from Arkansas, Oklahoma and North Carolina have previously received state grants; check with your state
- Veteran benefits — see Veterans
- Scholarships — see Scholarship Opportunities
- Private loans — credit-based, non-federal, from any lender you choose; compare options in FastChoice

Enrollment and Student Loan Eligibility
Stay at least half time in degree-seeking coursework to keep your federal loan eligibility. Enrolled less than full time? Students who are less than full time will have their loan reduced accordingly based on federal loan limits.
| Program | Full time | Part time |
|---|---|---|
| Doctor of Chiropractic | 12+ credit hours | 6–11 credit hours |
| EdD and master's | 9+ credit hours | 5–8 credit hours |
| Undergraduate | 12+ credit hours | 6–11 credit hours |
Graduate and professional students are not eligible for subsidized loans. Doctor of Chiropractic and Physician Assistant students who reach the unsubsidized cap use Direct Grad PLUS to remaining cost of attendance. Borrowing rules are changing for loans first disbursed in 2026.
