Don’t miss a feature presentation by Karen Erickson, DC on “Chiropractors as Women’s Healthcare Media Experts,” at the 2020 Women’s Health Symposium. This lecture will explore the role chiropractors can play as women’s health care advocates in all forms of media. Dr. Erickson will provide survey results of chiropractic media coverage in mainstream media including print, digital, television, self-publishing and podcasts.
She will review the most common women’s health care topic requests and discuss how experts in this field can pivot to deepen the discussion and introduce more meaningful women’s health topics. Dr. Erickson will also discuss how chiropractors can establish themselves as women’s health care experts and offer evidence-based, informed, expert advice and education to their female patients.
Dr. Erickson has been in private practice in New York, New York for over 30 years. She is also a spokesperson for the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), having previously served on the leadership team for the ACA Council on Women’s Health, and is on the board of advisors for the Bottom Line, a women’s health newsletter.
After earning a Bachelor of Science in biology and chemistry from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, Dr. Erickson pursued her Doctor of Chiropractic degree at New York Chiropractic College, graduating with honors in 1988.
For nearly two decades, Dr. Erickson has been teaching and lecturing at conferences, conventions and university commencements across the country. Her work has been included in multiple publications and she has appeared in major media outlets like the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, O Magazine, CNN, NBC and the TODAY Show, speaking on topics including pediatrics and women’s health.
