National Chiropractic Health Month: Pediatric Patients

For many parents, finding the right care for their children can be overwhelming. Kaitlyn Lindbloom, a mom from Wildwood, Missouri, experienced this firsthand when her newborn daughter started showing signs of tight neck muscles, misalignment, and lip and cheek ties.

Unsure of what to do, Kaitlyn turned to a holistic mom group on social media, where a suggestion led her to the pediatric clinic at Logan University’s Montgomery Health Centers.

“I received chiropractic care for myself, but I never thought to try it for my kids,” Kaitlyn said. “We were desperate with our second-born and willing to try anything.”

In January 2023, Kaitlyn took her daughter to Logan’s pediatric clinic for the first time. She was surprised by how quickly her daughter’s condition began to improve. Senior Clinician and Associate Professor Allison Harvey, DC, not only provided in-office treatments but also gave Kaitlyn at-home exercises to do with her daughter, helping her accelerate her progress.

“We noticed a difference right away, especially in helping to straighten out her spine and body alignment,” Kaitlyn said. “My daughter is so much better since starting treatment.”

Kaitlyn’s 3-year-old son also began receiving chiropractic care at Logan’s pediatric clinic. He struggled with sinus issues, and Dr. Harvey suggested giving up dairy to alleviate his symptoms. Since making that change, Kaitlyn has seen significant improvements.

Dr. Harvey’s blend of expertise and personal connection has been a big part of the family’s positive experience.

“We love Dr. Harvey,” Kaitlyn said. “She’s direct but also listens to me as a mom. She trusts my ‘mom gut’ but also gives her professional opinion.”

The welcoming atmosphere at Logan’s pediatric clinic also makes a difference.

“The staff is so kind and they know my children’s names,” Kaitlyn said. “My 3-year-old son even thinks of them as friends. The rooms are kid-friendly, with toys and sound machines that help calm any nerves.”

Since their first visit, Kaitlyn and her children still go to Logan’s pediatric clinic every two weeks. Kaitlyn has referred many other parents to the clinic, sharing her family’s success story.

“The level of care, thoroughness and knowledge has been something that rivals other medical professionals that we’ve seen concerning our kids,” Kaitlyn said. “It is extremely affordable, and the staff is great!”

This October, during National Chiropractic Health Month (NCHM), chiropractors nationwide are sharing information on the importance of maintaining a strong and healthy musculoskeletal (MSK) system as we age. As experts in MSK health, chiropractors provide a non-drug, evidence-based and patient-centered approach to treating common MSK conditions such as neck pain, joint pain and back pain (the single leading cause of disability worldwide).

Check back throughout NCHM and hear from real Logan University Health Center patients on how they plan for a #StrongHealthspan!
