Healing Heroes Through Holistic Healthcare

For Camilus Oledibe, a 2022 graduate of Logan University’s Bachelor of Science in Human Biology program, helping others is a calling deeply rooted in service and compassion. From his time at Logan to his current studies at Baylor University, Camilus continues to combine his passion for holistic healing with his dedication to supporting fellow service members.

Originally from West Africa, Camilus relocated with his family to Austin, Texas at the age of 20. His search for an institution that embraced a holistic approach to healthcare quickly led him to Logan.

“I wanted a university that would teach me to care for people, not just treat symptoms,” Camilus explained. “Logan’s emphasis on holistic health resonated with my personal beliefs.”

At Logan, Camilus thrived in the rigorous academic environment, finding valuable mentorship from faculty members like Atanas Ignatov, PhD, MS, program director and assistant professor for Logan’s College of Health Sciences.

“Dr. Ignatov significantly influenced my perspective on patient care,” Camilus shared. “His guidance reinforced the importance of putting patients at the center of everything we do.”

After graduating from Logan, Camilus took the next step in his healthcare career and applied to Baylor University’s Occupational Therapy doctorate program at Robbins College of Health & Human Sciences.

Camilus was accepted and started the program in January 2025. His days now include an intense schedule of classroom instruction and hands-on lab experiences from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each weekday.

Yet academics represent only one part of Camilus. He also actively serves as a Doctoral Student Officer in the U.S Army, uniquely positioning him to understand firsthand the profound need for occupational therapy within military communities.

“Serving in the military is something I’ve always wanted to do,” he explained. “I chose Baylor’s program because it allows me to pursue my occupational therapy goals while actively serving my country, all within close proximity to the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence in San Antonio.”

Upon graduation, Camilus plans to utilize his skills and training to improve the lives of active-duty military members, veterans and their families.

“I believe in giving back when you can,” he said. “Helping the heroes who have sacrificed so much means the world to me.”
