Dr. Sara Cuperus Nurtures the Next Generation of Chiropractors and Children

Sara Cuperus, DC has practiced for more than two decades, treating a wide variety of patients from athletes to expecting women and children. Located in the heart of Minnesota, Dr. Cuperus’ practice initially leaned toward sports chiropractic due to her background in athletic training. However, she soon broadened her focus to include all demographics, realizing the importance of a diverse skill set in treating everyone effectively. Her practice in Sartell now includes a significant number of pregnant women and children, a reflection of her evolving expertise and personal life as a mother.

After completing her undergraduate degree in exercise science at the University of Minnesota Duluth, she went on to graduate from Northwestern Health Sciences University in 2002 with her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. She also holds a certification in pediatric care from the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) and an athletic trainer.

Dr. Cuperus brings her extensive clinical experience to Logan University, where she teaches the Pediatric Sports Injury Case Management 3 course for Logan’s Master of Science in Chiropractic Pediatrics (MS-CP) program.

“Online teaching has been a new and exciting challenge for me,” she said. “The ease for students to access the information when it’s convenient for them is a major perk. My course is highly engaging, and since chiropractic is so hands-on, I ask for a lot of videos from my students so they can demonstrate the technique. This also helps me get glimpses into how the students’ train of thought works.”

She adds that the courses in this degree program are content-heavy, and being online gives students the ability to dive into the material on their own time. Her teaching style emphasizes the “why” behind treatments, encouraging students to delve into research and approach patient care thoughtfully.

“Teaching is more than imparting knowledge; it’s about creating a community of dedicated chiropractors,” Dr. Cuperus said. “Coming together for events where instructors and students can interact and learn from one another is so important.”

Dr. Cuperus emphasized the value of a recognized master’s degree program, such as the MS-CP, that enhances chiropractic skills and instills confidence and credibility in the field.

“If you are passionate about pediatrics and expanding your toolbox, this degree offers the right opportunity for you,” she said.
