Jacob Linn, MEd, NSCA-CPT, CSCS, FRC/FRA, FMS
Biography
Jacob Linn serves as Assistant Professor for Fitness Programming and Management. Linn loves teaching from experience gained in collegiate performance training and clinical exercise physiology. Committed to maximizing aspiring fitness professionals’ skills, Jacob teaches courses including FPM 2130, 3130, 3250, 4440, and 4550, bridging the gap between theory and practice. In addition, he was one of the original faculty members for Logan University’s Strength and Conditioning Master’s program, for which he designed and still teaches the applied strength and conditioning course.
Previously, Jacob served as the Manager of a MU Health Care physical therapy clinic and Director of the MU Human Performance Program. During his five-year tenure starting in 2019, he spearheaded the development and implementation of performance enhancement systems, as applied in a clinical setting. He worked to blend the fields of physical therapy and performance enhancement to achieve a high-performance model at his clinic.
Prior to his role with MU Health Care, Jacob amassed over nine seasons of experience with the Mizzou Athletics Department, where he excelled as an Associate Director of Athletic Performance. There, he crafted tailored training programs to optimize athletic performance and mitigate injury risks.
Jacob’s journey at Missouri began in 2010 as a graduate assistant, providing comprehensive support across various sports, including football, baseball, track & field, swimming, and men’s and women’s basketball, as well as women’s golf.
Before joining Missouri, Jacob honed his coaching expertise at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas, overseeing all aspects of strength and conditioning for football, women’s basketball, volleyball, and softball. His earlier experience includes an internship at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas.
A McPherson, Kansas native, Jacob earned a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from the University of Kansas in 2007, followed by a master’s in health education and Promotion from Mizzou in 2012. He holds certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and remains an active member of the organization.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Jacob finds joy in family life with his wife, Kimberly, also from McPherson, Kansas, and their three children, Jase, Riley, and Avery.
