Nine Athletes Selected for Team USA Para Powerlifting

In just a few weeks’ time, Jake Schrom will fly to Tokyo, Japan to represent Team USA for Para Powerlifting at the postponed 2020 Paralympic Games. However, for Team USA Para Powerlifting Team High Performance Manager and Coach Mary Hodge, they are already looking to fall 2022 and beyond. It’s been a busy year of competition for the USA Para Powerlifting (USAPP) team after all international sports competitions were put on hold and delayed in 2020 due to the pandemic. Jake Schrom, a member of the USAPP team, finished in fifth place and reached a new personal best at the June World Cup in Dubai. “This competition was more about the weight I lifted than where I placed. As the High-Performance Management Organization for USA Para Powerlifting (USAPP), Logan is excited to welcome the Paralympic Operations Department (POD) to Logan in a greater capacity this year. USAPP and Move United Work to Bring Sports to Everyone

USA Para Powerlifting (USAPP) has found its home at Logan as it transitions to becoming an official Paralympic Sports Organization over the next year. With a belief that people with physical disabilities deserve high quality organized athletic opportunities, from youth sports to elite Paralympic competition, the Paralympic Operations Department (POD) at Logan aims to be leaders in the global adaptive sport movement. With the help of Move United, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals with physical disabilities learn about and participate in adaptive sports, the two are working to bring awareness and increase accessibility to the sport nationwide. “The …
