Puerto Rican Student Presence Grows at Logan

Over the last few years, Logan has welcomed a growing number of students from Puerto Rico. Student enrollment more than doubled from 7 in spring 2017 to 16 in spring 2018, with now a record high of 31 students from Puerto Rico in spring 2020. “It’s really been a grassroots effort – exposing the students to the profession and making them more aware of the opportunities that exist for education in the U.S.,” said Michael Lynch, who recently joined the University as an executive external relations officer for the Office of Admissions. “As the number of chiropractors on the island …

Students, Faculty Support St. Louis Puerto Rican Society

Logan University Assistant Professor and Clinician Mero Nunez Jr., DC, along with Logan students Raul Vazquez and Jose Nieves, supported the St. Louis Puerto Rican Society at a local fundraiser on February 23. The fundraiser was held at Mayo Ketchup, a casual/traditional Cuban, Dominican, and Puerto Rican restaurant, in Lafayette Square. The owner, Mandy Estrella, also known as Plantain Girl, sponsored the fundraiser, and 20% of all of Mayo Ketchup’s sales from the day benefitted the St. Louis Puerto Rican Society. NCMIC Offering $100,000 in Scholarships for Board Exams

In order to alleviate the cost burden for chiropractic students taking their board exams, the National Chiropractic Mutual Insurance Company (NCMIC), along with the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, have created the Bucks for Boards scholarship program. NCMIC will be offering $500 to 200 recipients in 2020 for a total of $100,000 in scholarships. This will help some of the approximately 6,400 chiropractic students who take the board exams each year. Bucks for Boards scholarships will be awarded four times during the year. Students can enter once per entry period and the names of winners will be randomly drawn at …

2020 Spring Scholarships Now Available

Logan is now accepting applications for 2020 Spring Scholarships! This year, 26 scholarships, ranging from $125 to $7,500, are open to all qualifying Logan Doctor of Chiropractic students. Students, Faculty Represent Logan in Washington, D.C.

At Logan, education happens both in the classroom and around the world. Earlier this month, 20 students, led by Professor Patrick Montgomery, DC, MS, FASA, FICC, and Director of Assessment and Accreditation Kristina Petrocco-Napuli, DC, MS, FICC, FACC, had the opportunity to head to Washington, D.C. The group attended the American Chiropractic Association’s National Conference and lobbied for H.B. 3654, a bipartisan bill that, if passed, would offer complete chiropractic coverage in Medicare. Preceptorship Propels Logan Alum’s Interest in Integrated Care Settings

Kaelyn Mead, DC (’19) might agree with the saying, ‘When one door closes, another one opens.’ “As a student at a different chiropractic college, I was extremely interested in applying for residencies as part of my student journey,” said Dr. Mead. “Upon finding out that they would not be able to set me up for a clinical experience, I transferred to Logan because of their successful track record of students securing clinical integrated preceptorships and residencies.” Dr. Mead recently completed an eight-month preceptorship at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, just before graduating from Logan in …
