Dr. Haun Earns ACA Academician of the Year Award

For Daniel Haun, DC (’04), DACBR, earning American Chiropractic Association’s 2021 Academician of the Year Award was something he never saw coming. But even days after receiving the news, he is still surprised. “I remember getting the message from the ACA and I thought they were calling about something to do with giving a lecture,” he said. “But when they said I was the recipient, I was floored. I don’t think it’s sunk in fully. It is quite an honor just to be considered.” Dr. Haun started in academia at Logan in 2009, after earning his Doctor of Chiropractic and …

#LeadersMade: Sydney Brangenberg

Sydney Brangenberg, Logan DC student, always knew she wanted to practice chiropractic internationally after graduation. “I love how chiropractors are able to provide ways of maintaining wellness without pharmaceuticals, and it’s exciting to think that I can travel to another country and share my knowledge and care in a region where there aren’t many practitioners,” she said. Taking this passion to Logan, Sydney joined the University’s chapter of the World Congress of Chiropractic Students (WCCS). In 2020, she became the Americas West Coordinator for the international organization. “Holding a leadership position allows me to teach people around the world and …

Caring for our Nation’s Veterans

Nearly 20% of Americans suffer from chronic pain, including 65% of veterans. What’s more, veterans are two times more likely than non-veterans to die from accidental overdoses of highly addictive painkillers, according to the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress. But there is hope: Doctors of Chiropractic are uniquely poised to provide safe, effective and drug-free care, and the presence of chiropractors within Veterans Affairs facilities is growing throughout the U.S.–including right here in Logan’s backyard. Kevin Meyer, trimester 10 DC student, is currently completing his preceptorship at the St. Clair County VA Clinic in Shiloh, Illinois. On his experience working with …

While her location and her passion for chiropractic haven’t changed in the last 38 years, Dr. Burke has added some new tools to her arsenal, completing her acupuncture diplomate certificate after three years of study in 2016 through the American Chiropractic Association. “Acupuncture opened my eyes to a different way of healing,” she said. “It can treat a variety of disorders, including depression, menstrual irregularities, musculoskeletal problems, vertigo, Bell’s palsy, shingles and bedwetting.” She’s also found …
