Caring for our Nation’s Veterans

Nearly 20% of Americans suffer from chronic pain, including 65% of veterans. What’s more, veterans are two times more likely than non-veterans to die from accidental overdoses of highly addictive painkillers, according to the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress. But there is hope: Doctors of Chiropractic are uniquely poised to provide safe, effective and drug-free care, and the presence of chiropractors within Veterans Affairs facilities is growing throughout the U.S.–including right here in Logan’s backyard. Kevin Meyer, trimester 10 DC student, is currently completing his preceptorship at the St. Clair County VA Clinic in Shiloh, Illinois. On his experience working with …

Online Classes Offer Flexibility, Convenience and Hours of Preparation

Logan University is no stranger to virtual learning. For years, we’ve offered entire degree programs completely online within the College of Health Sciences. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, students and teachers across the globe were thrown into virtual learning with only a moment’s notice. For some, like Professor Patrick Montgomery, DC, MS, FASA, the transition was fairly smooth. “I’ve taught online classes before, so I had a pretty good handle on …

Help Logan Recognize National Chiropractic Health Month

After months of sheltering in place, many people are still practicing lifestyle changes necessitated by the pandemic to reduce their exposure. As a result, many people are moving less, and some are experiencing pain because of this. NCHM 2020 will encourage the public to adjust to the challenges of staying fit and pain free with a smaller lifestyle footprint by becoming more …

Transfer Student Finds Home at Logan

Trimester 2 student Megan Mattox transferred to Logan University in January 2020. After just 10 weeks in the DC program, campus closed and all instruction moved online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “The attitude and culture here at Logan is focused not on competing with one another, but on completing the program together,” said Megan. “This reinforces learning among my cohort of fellow students, and having even just 10 weeks of that family atmosphere and sense of community on campus was necessary to continue learning while living through a pandemic.” Originally from Michigan, Megan spent the last several years as …
