Logan University welcomes Vitaly Napadow, PhD, LicAc as the keynote speaker for the 13th Annual Joseph W. Howe Oration in Diagnostic Imaging. During his time as a Logan student, Ralph Filson, DC (69’) had only heard and read about the incredible things that the University’s founder and first president, Hugh B. Logan, DC, had done. “He was a very straightforward, honest person,” Dr. Filson, now a Logan professor, said. “He was a believer in his technique and an honorable man who did a lot for chiropractic.” In the years following graduation, Dr. Filson created a very special bond with Dr. Logan’s widow, Fern Murray, DC, who was also the first student to enroll at Logan in 1935. When Kate Bruce, DC (’15) sustained a hamstring injury playing soccer during her junior year of high school, she had no idea it would lead to a successful chiropractic career. “After I was injured, I saw my primary care physician and went through physical therapy, but I wasn’t feeling any better,” Dr. Bruce said. Determined to heal her injury, she went to see a family friend who had recently opened a chiropractic business in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Kemmy Ritter Elected WCCS Director of Public Relations

Kemmy Ritter, DC (‘19) was instrumental in bringing the World Congress of Chiropractic Students (WCCS) back to Logan University’s campus after nearly a decade of inactivity. Originally from Brazil, Dr. Ritter has always been interested in learning more about chiropractic care around the globe. When she met WCCS members at an American Chiropractic Association (ACA) and World Federation of Chiropractic Congress (WFCC) event, she was immediately intrigued with the organization. Laurie Burke, DC (‘82), CCSP, DABCA set up her practice in west county St. Louis the first weekday after she graduated from Logan University. While her location and her passion for chiropractic haven’t changed in the last 38 years, Dr. Burke has added some new tools to her arsenal, completing her acupuncture diplomate certificate after three years of study in 2016 through the American Chiropractic Association. “Acupuncture opened my eyes to a different way of healing,” she said. “It can treat a variety of disorders, including depression, menstrual irregularities, musculoskeletal problems, vertigo, Bell’s palsy, shingles and bedwetting.” She’s also found …
