What attracted you to the chiropractic field? Was is a person, or an experience? And what was the moment you knew?
I was in a car accident while in undergrad and went to a chiropractor for help with my back pain. I really enjoyed the experience and was amazed at how good I felt after leaving his office. But I never thought I could be a chiropractor myself. I thought I was going to be a scientist working in a lab! Boy was I wrong … Years passed and I was out of work. I went to a women’s retreat at my church, and one of the speakers said: “Your Breakthrough is right behind those things you are REFUSING to do!” A girlfriend and I were talking about what we were refusing to do, and for me it was going back to school. It was 10 years to be exact that I first attempted to attend Logan but did not follow through. I contacted enrollment and it seemed like doors and windows just opened. Next thing I knew I was accepted into the Doctor of Chiropractic program and the rest is history!
What do you love the most about being in the chiropractic field?
I love being able to help people, and being a chiropractor has allowed me to meet some amazing people. What a great feeling it is to see a person walk into your office in pain yet walk out with a huge smile on their face because they feel so much better! I try to empower people to live a life being proactive instead of reactive. Chiropractic care helps in both cases because our Innate power will do exactly what it is designed to do: HEAL!
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about pursuing chiropractic?
Buckle up for an incredibly rewarding ride! What other profession are you able to create such amazing effects on the body without giving the patient something or taking anything away? I heal with my hands, and what a great feeling that is to be able to do. You are entering the best profession in the world, IMO!
