All applicants who have taken coursework from a non-U.S. college/university are required to request an evaluation from one of the following organizations:

• SpanTran (Offers an expedited evaluation at a discounted rate)
• WES
• AES
• ECE

The foreign transcript must include a course-by-course evaluation and U.S. grade point average (GPA) equivalency on a 4.0 scale, as well as a degree equivalency when applicable.

Please note: As part of the transcript evaluation process, your admissions counselor may require an evaluation be submitted prior to application to determine your qualification for our program(s).

Students may be required to demonstrate proficiency in English —TOEFL scores of 500 or better on paper-based exams or 79 on the iBT® Test are acceptable. A break-down of the subscores for the iBT Test are below:

• Statement of Motivation
• Submit evidence of having financial resources or funding commitment to complete a minimum of one year (12 months) of education.
• Submit official transcripts to the Office of Admissions for evaluation. It is sometimes necessary to use an outside evaluating agency, in which case the official evaluation by that agency should be sent in lieu of the original transcripts. Have the transcript(s) sent to Logan University, Office of Admissions at 1851 Schoettler Road, Chesterfield, MO 63017.
• Evidence of meeting all applicable legal requirements for study in the United States. It is recommended that the applicant submit all records at least six months prior to the start of the trimester they wish to attend.

Canadian assistance is provided via application with the student’s province or territory. Please contact your provincial and territorial student aid office regarding eligibility and possible funding for your educational program.

Once approved for funding, Canadian students may need sections of assistance forms completed by Logan University. The following will guide you to the correct office:

On-Campus
Employment at Logan University is available to international students beginning with your first trimester on campus. Depending on the availability of positions, you can work up to 20 hours per week on campus with an hourly rate ranging from minimum wage to $14 per hour. Off-Campus
Students on an I-20 are not permitted to work off-campus (with the exception of an approved Optional Practical Training) and jeopardize their status by doing so.

Optional Practical Training
Optional Practical Training (OPT) is available both before and after F-1 students graduate, once they have been in the United States and enrolled full-time for nine months in F-1 status. OPT is designed to strengthen the skills students have gained in their educational programs. Consequently, OPT must be directly related to the students’ major field of study. Prior to completion of studies, OPT is limited to 20 hours per week when school is in session (full-time during vacation periods). After students finish their studies, they may apply for full-time OPT. Application for full-time OPT, post-graduation, must be made prior to graduation. NOTE: Only 12 months of OPT may be granted during students’ entire course of study at each degree level. Careful planning is quite important so that work time is not wasted.

Employment Based on Unforeseen Severe Economic Hardship
U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Service authorization is difficult to obtain and requires detailed, specific documentation of the hardship of the student. For more information, please contact the Office of Admissions.

The Office of Student Affairs has information available on health insurance options. International insurance, such as Canada’s OHIP, will not fully cover the student, and it is suggested that you obtain supplemental coverage in the form of basic accident insurance. For other medical needs, Logan provides basic health care services to its students.

Student Visa Process

To be issued a Federal Form I-20, you must:

• Be accepted into Logan’s Doctor of Chiropractic Program
• Submit the Financial Obligation Document (provided by Admissions). It’s best to complete this worksheet about two months before the anticipated start date. However, it is possible to accelerate the process if necessary.
• Provide any additional required documentation, as requested by Logan’s Designated School Official (DSO).

The Admissions Office will email and/or mail this information to students once all documentation is received and processed.

Pay a SEVIS processing fee before crossing the U.S. border, and provide printed proof of payment at the border.

Your student visa can be issued any time once all of this is complete, but please note that it is only valid for 30 days prior to the start of your anticipated first trimester.

Note: Canadian citizens are not required to obtain a visa at a U.S. Consulate or Embassy, but will be required to process the Federal I-20 Form (provided by Admissions) at the U.S. Border.
