Clinical Opportunities

Logan student working with patient.

Take Your Skills from the Classroom to the Clinic

As a Doctor of Chiropractic student at Logan University, you’ll be exposed to more clinical opportunities earlier in your education than in any other chiropractic program. Supervised by teaching clinicians, student doctors and residents receive extensive clinical training in a variety of chiropractic techniques while treating patients for conditions ranging from back and neck problems to headaches, allergies and injuries.

Clinical Opportunities

In Trimester 7, you’ll report to the Montgomery Health Center where faculty clinicians will guide you through the process of evaluating patients.

In Trimester 8, you’ll enter one of Logan’s outpatient health centers where you will treat members of the public under the supervision of faculty clinicians. The Health Center Practicum is a one-year course that will expose you to a variety of patient encounters and cases.

Student doctors may also participate in rotations at a variety of health centers offering chiropractic care to diverse audiences including veterans, physically disabled, unhoused or underinsured populations. Logan continues to build relationships and expand opportunities for our student doctors. Current relationships include:

Affinia Healthcare

Affinia is a large community health center system in St. Louis offering services to patients who are underinsured or uninsured. Logan student doctors provide chiropractic care in an integrated setting.

CareSTL Health

Gain experience working with patients in an integrated setting. Logan is the only chiropractic college to have student doctors and clinicians working with patients within a federally qualified health center.

Harris-Stowe State University

Under the direction of a Logan clinician, you’ll treat elite student athletes at this historically black St. Louis university.

Mercy Hospital JFK Clinic

The Mercy Hospital JFK Clinic serves the health needs of individuals who are uninsured or underinsured that fall within the Federal Poverty Guidelines.

Stephen A. Orthwein Center at Paraquad

Paraquad is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower people with disabilities to increase their independence through choice and opportunity.

Scott Air Force Base

Work with a supervising clinician caring for military patients at this Illinois air base located 25 minutes from downtown St. Louis.

Veteran’s Administration Medical Center at Jefferson Barracks

Located in south St. Louis County, Logan student doctors offer chiropractic care to veterans multiple days per week.

External Clinical Rotation Opportunities

Determine your preferred practice setting and gain real-world experience in your final year of education by working in a clinical atmosphere outside the campus environment. Our External Clinical Rotation Program allows Logan student interns who have met certain quantitative and qualitative benchmarks to participate in Logan University’s External Clinical Rotation Program during their trimester 9 and trimester 10 clinical experience. The purpose of the External Rotation Program is to provide educational and clinical experiences in a clinical setting outside of the Logan University Clinic System. The rotation sites can range from small private practice settings, hospital settings, VA facilities, University settings, Federally Qualified Health Centers and DoD settings.

Department of Radiology

Gain hands-on diagnostic experience through the Norman W. Kettner, DC Imaging Center. Dedicated to providing excellence in patient care through safe, cost-effective and high-quality diagnostic imaging services, the Department of Radiology supports the broader mission of Logan University.

After graduation, Doctors of Chiropractic may participate in a radiology residency program for in-depth training in Diagnostic Imaging for the Chiropractic Physician. This program is a three calendar-year, on-campus academic residency program. On successful completion, residents are eligible to sit for the examination by the American Chiropractic Board of Radiology (DABCR).
