Recent Logan Grads’ SACA Involvement Leads to National Appointments

Making time to get involved in various clubs and organizations while in college can be difficult. But for recent Logan Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) graduates Breanna Leach, DC (’22) and Tristan Alley, DC (’22), their involvement in Logan’s Student American Chiropractic Association (SACA) started at the beginning of their journey at Logan.

“In a trimester 1 class, members from SACA came in and highlighted the importance of being in professional organizations,” explained Dr. Leach. “Their passion for fighting for the progression of chiropractic care really interested me.”

SACA is a community of student doctors who support evidence-based, patient-centered, collaborative-care practice. In addition to two main events held on Logan’s campus every year, being a SACA member also gives students access to online education programs, discussion forums, networking opportunities and more.

“SACA gave me a sense of community,” said Dr. Alley. “Being surrounded by other like-minded chiropractors who are pursuing similar missions is so powerful to experience.”

After being part of the Logan chapter of SACA for a few semesters, Dr. Leach and Dr. Alley applied and were appointed to positions on the SACA national board. Dr. Alley served as the Student National Executive Board Legislative Chair and Dr. Leach served as the Legislative Vice Chair.

“I wanted to give back and be part of the force of progress in chiropractic care,” said Dr. Alley. “One of my mentors told me that if there was one thing I should do in chiropractic school, it was to join SACA. I didn’t understand the importance of what she said at the time, but now I do. SACA helps mold you into a better doctor.”

“There are a lot of clubs you can get involved in at Logan,” said Dr. Leach. “But I think it’s important to be in one that helps you meet people, make connections and make a difference.”
